Chanel are obviously aware that more and more guys are choosing to get creative with makeup, and are launching a line specifically for men off the back of it.

Chanel is launching its first make-up line for men, Boy De Chanel. Comprised of an eyebrow pencil, a foundation and a matt lip balm, the line will debut in South Korea on September 1 before being rolled out globally from November.

“By creating Boy de Chanel, its first make-up line for men, Chanel reaffirms the ever-changing codes of an unchanging vision: is not a matter of gender, it is a matter of style,” the brand said in a statement shared by WWD.

“Just as Gabrielle Chanel borrowed elements from the men’s wardrobe to dress women, Chanel draws inspiration from the women’s world to write the vocabulary of a new personal aesthetic for men. Lines, colors, attitudes, gestures… There is no absolutely feminine or masculine prerequisite: Style alone defines the person we wish to be.”

Korean actor Lee Dong-wook has been chosen as the face of the campaign. The collection currently includes four shades of brow pencil (including grey!) and four of the foundation, but it is unclear whether the shade range will expand to suit its global customer base when it rolls out internationally.
