EU Summit 2018

When Theresa May arrived in Brussels, European liberal prime ministers agreed to back calls for a new referendum on and final decision.

As it turned out, it was a confusion: a few hours later, liberal EU parties write a tweet, claiming they hadn’t agreed to call a new meeting.

Eight European leaders have stated,  “We regret , but acknowledge the choice made by British voters for the UK Government to negotiate the withdrawal.”

Theresa May said, “We made considerable progress through the agreement on the implementation period, which will bring certainty to businesses and people.”

Background

The UK’s referendum showed that the majority of people 51.9% wanted to leave the European Union.

It is scheduled to depart at 11pm UK time on Friday 29 March, 2019.
