In Indonesia, Lion Air flight JT 610 from Jakarta to Pangkal Pinang has crashed carrying 189 people. The Boeing 737 had 181 passengers on board, including two children and one baby, as well as two pilots and six crew members.

The plane of the airline Lion Air fell into the Java Sea, 15 kilometers off the west coast of Java, to a depth of 30 to 35 meters. Communication with flight JT-610 was lost shortly after its departure from Jakarta airport to the city of Pangkal Pinang in the Indonesian province of Bangka Belitung.

Before the crash, the pilots informed the dispatchers that they were going to return to the airport. Eyewitnesses at the port of Jakarta watched as the plane fell into the sea. It crashed barely 13 minutes after the departure.
It flew out of Jakarta on the morning of October 29 at 6:20 local time and at 6:33 it collapsed. According to unconfirmed data from of Flightradar24, the plane took off at 6:21, climbed to a height of 1524 meters and transmitted the last signal at 6:32.
At this point, the plane was at an altitude of 1131 meters, and its speed increased to 635 kilometers per hour. Eyewitnesses confirmed that the plane fell into the water at 6:33.

“We don’t know yet whether there are any survivors,” Muhmmad Syaugi, Â the head of Indonesia’s search and rescue agency, told a news conference. “We hope, we pray, but we cannot confirm.”
The plane was brand new. As Flightradar24 reported, “The flight was operated by Boeing 737 MAX 8 registration PK-LQP. The aircraft was delivered to Lion Air in August of this year. It is powered by two CFM LEAP-1B engines.”
At the crash site, the parts of the aircraft and personal belongings of passengers were found. The rescue team found lifejackets, airplane seats, headphones and mobile phones two miles from the crash site, near the marine oil refinery.

The representative of the National Disaster Management Council of Indonesia, Sutopo Purvo Nugroho, tweeted two videos showing floating debris and an oil spill.
