Suspicious packages intended for White House, Obama, Clinton and Time Warner Center in NY, where CNN is based were found and intercepted.

This is a developing story.

Updated Thursday at 7:01 a.m. ET:

A suspect package similar to those sent to CNN and senior Democrats has been sent to a New York restaurant owned by the actor Robert De Niro, US media say.

Two law enforcement sources tell CNN the package addressed to Robert De Niro had six American flags stamps, arrayed in two rows.

This is just like the other suspicious packages seen.

There was no postmark visible on the front of the package, similar to some of the other packages.

This is what the scene looked like after the NYPD responded to the suspicious package, addressed to Robert De Niro.

Earlier this year, De Niro, a vocal critic of Trump, gave a speech at the Tony Awards saying: “I’m gonna say one thing. F**k Trump.”

He also spoke in Toronto where he apologised to the people of Cananda on behalf of the American president.

If linked to previous packages, this would be the 8th explosive device sent to a perceived critic of President Trump.

Other devices were sent to the following individuals, according to the FBI:

  • Former Vice President Joe Biden
  • Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton
  • Former President Barack Obama
  • Former CIA Director John Brennan, care of CNN
  • Former Attorney General Eric Holder
  • California Democratic Congresswoman Maxine Waters
  • Liberal philanthropist and financier George Soros (on Monday)

Authorities have intercepted devices intended for the White House, former President Barack Obama and 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.

A suspicious package containing a pipe bomb that was addressed to the White House was intercepted at Joint Base Bolling in Washington, DC, a law enforcement official told CNN Wednesday, adding that it was similar to the ones sent to the homes of former US President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

The devices appear to be rudimentary but functional, the official said. The White House-addressed device also contained projectiles.

It comes two days after a bomb was found at the home of liberal philanthropist and financier George Soros in the suburbs of New York City.

Neither Obama nor Clinton received the packages or were at risk of receiving them, the Secret Service said. They were discovered during “routine mail screening procedures as potential explosive devices and were appropriately handled as such,” the agency said in a statement.

“There is a strong suspicion” the two packages intended for Obama and Clinton are connected to the package targeting Soros, another law enforcement source said.

CNN’s Jim Sciutto shared an image of the scene outside the Time Warner Center in New York that was just evacuated due to a suspicious package.

The device sent to Time Warner mailroom is being treated as real explosive.
