BDSM-Styled Band From Iceland + 4 Most Remarkable Moments and Performances of Eurovision 2019

371

This year’s contest, hosted in Tel Aviv and however the semi-final has already left in the past, Nexter.org offers you to see these outstanding performances from Eurovision Song Contest 2019!

Duncan Laurence, “Arcade” from The Netherlands

This weepy ballad by Duncan Laurence is already at the top of many lists.

Duncan has explained that the song is ‘inspired by the story of someone I loved deeply, who died at a young age’ – but added that it took on a wider scope as it went on.

John Lundvik, “Too Late for Love” from Sweden

Lundvik is also a medaled runner and composed the song “When You Tell the World You’re Mine” for the wedding of the crown princess of Sweden.

Lundvik has also penned for US hip hop show Empire and co-wrote the official song for the wedding of Swedish royalty Victoria, Crown Princess of Sweden, and Daniel Westling in 2010.

Hatari, “Hatrið Mun Sigra” from Iceland

However, despite being Eurovision’s cool and most interesting entry this year (and certainly Iceland’s best entry ever), the song has a lot rooting against it. First, it’s being performed by a buzzy BDSM-themed metal band competing in a severely “We Are the World”–inspired, pop-forward competition. Second, the band have repeatedly spoken out against the Israeli government, even while actively competing in Eurovision in Tel Aviv.

Mahmood, “Soldi” from  Italy

“Soldi” (or “Money”) has already hit No. 1 on the Italian pop charts, and is a big fan favorite this year. Mahmood originally auditioned for the Italian X Factor but didn’t make it too far. He sounds a bit like an Italian-speaking Adam Levine, right?

BONUS – Madonna will perform during the final of the Eurovision Song Contest

The singer will perform two songs: her 1989 hit Like A Prayer and new single Future, featuring US rapper Quavo.

An announcement was made ahead of the contest’s second semi-final on Thursday, ending days of speculation over whether she would indeed appear.

Earlier this week organizers said a contract had yet to be signed and that she could not perform without one. Yet the singer was seen arriving in Israel on Tuesday and has reportedly been rehearsing at a secret location.
