According to BBC, Apple is going to buy Shazam, a UK company that has about 100M users. However, Apple and Shazam still haven’t said anything about the deal.
Founded in 1999, Shazam is made to help people to find music they hear – it identifies the track through a  music fragment. The commissions paid by Apple are the main source of Shazam income.
In 2015, Shazam was evaluated $1 billion, so it’s strange that the Apple price is twice lower.
What is that for?

If Apple buys Shazam, it will be able to eliminate the middleman and save on commissions. Â In addition, it might be a huge advantage over the competitors, as the application will stop redirecting users to other music stores.
This will also allow Apple to beat its main competitor – Spotify, making it easier to find songs and add them to the lists. Compare: Spotify has 60M users, while Apple Music has only 27M.
