Earlier, it was revealed Intel, AMD and ARM processors have chip defects, due to which ordinary user programs can “see” the structure of the protected part of the processor.
Moreover, they are able to reveal the place where confidential information is hidden. Meltdown allows an application to read any computer memory, including kernel memory.
Specter with the help of a gap in the programs allows the hacker to read information from other applications.
Simply saying, hackers take advantage of the vulnerability of the device through the installed infected application.
“All Mac systems and iOS devices are affected, but there are no known exploits impacting customers at this time,” – Apple has stated in a statement on the official website.

The company has already launched mitigations in iOS 11.2, macOS 10.13.2, and tvOS 11.2 to help fight Meltdown and Spectre. WatchOS did not require mitigation.
Apple also advises downloading apps only from App Store and other trusted sources.
In addition, the company has promised to protect users from possible defects with the release of updates to the operating systems.

It’s not the only problem Apple is facing right now. Earlier, they confirmed they were intentionally slowing older iPhones with ageing batteries.
