Drogon

Drogon is the largest and most aggressive of the three dragons named after Daenerys’s late husband Drogo. Most of his body is black, but there are red plates on his back and neck. The membranes on the wings are also red.

There is a special deep connection between Deineris and Drogon, and he is not just a pet for her.

In the last episodes, Daenerys sits on Drogon and sends him to the battlefield against the army of Jaime Lannister. The dragon burns the troops and leaves the Lannister army no chance of victory, and the survivors are killed on the ground by the Dothraki.

But in the battle, the Lannisters captured their latest invention – a huge crossbow capable of piercing the skulls of dragons. Knight Bronn, loyal to Jaime, shoots Drogon several times with Daenerys on his back and still falls into the dragon, and he slowly flies to the ground.

It’s obvious that Drogon was hurt, but Daenerys managed to save him. Also, we can see him in the new trailer, so he’s probably alright.

Rhaegal

He is named after Daenerys’s late brother Rhaegar. His body is covered with bronze and green scales, and his wings are yellow-orange.

The fans speculate that Jon might ride Rhaegal in the battle against Night King, but it will be extremely hard for him to beat Viserion as the Night King has a psychic connection with a zombie dragon.

Viserion

This one is named after her late brother Viserys. The dragon’s body is covered in cream and gold scales, and its wings are red-orange. During the Battle of the Wall, he was killed by the Night King and after being “resurrected” as an ice dragon he became controlled by the Night King.

Later, the King of the Night rides Viserion, which, on his orders, melts part of the Wall with his blue breath. This allows an army of dead and White Walkers to pass through it to the south.

How to kill the dragons?

In the “,” the dragons were killed multiple times by humans and dragons themselves. Martin’s book series mentions the war between the two branches of the Targaryen clan called “Dance of the Dragons”, which lasted almost 200 years.

During this war, the dragons were on both warring parties, and almost all of them died in battles with each other. Martin also mentioned the cases when the dragon was killed by a man with a precise blow of a spear in the eye.

In addition, it is known that dragons badly endure a lack of freedom. The fire-breathing creatures left after the “Dance of the Dragons” were shackled and placed in dungeons – and soon withered and died.

So, Drogon and Viserion might die fighting each other and Rhaegal might be killed by a strike.
