At least 257 people died today in a military plane crash in northern Algeria, according to ABCNews.

- The Algerian military plane crashed near the Boufarik military base (Algiers). It collapsed soon after the takeoff;

- The plane was the Soviet-designed II-76 military aircraft;
- It fell on an area with no residents. The cause of the crash remains unknown;
- Most of the dead are army members and their families. The crew was also killed;
- 26 members of the Polisario Front were also on the plane;
