6 Times Official Merch Products Spoiled Some Major Plot Twists
Who doesn’t love merch products? Sure thing, every fan would love to have a bubble-head, a Lego set or a plushie with their beloved characters. But sometimes, companies that do these things stab us in the back with huge spoilers of upcoming movies.
Nexter.org prepared you 6 examples of such occasions.
Ant-man Giant Man
Source: Funko
A lot of our favorite superheroes were brought together in Captain America: Civil War. One of them was Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man, who turned into one of his many comic-book alter egos, Giant-Man, who grows super big and, presumably, can talk to giants. This was his new power set, which was never advertised in the trailers. But Funko managed to spoil it with a single Pop. Good job!
Hawkeye and Loki team up
Source: Lego
Hawkeye has always been one of the favorite Marvel characters. Meg Griffin sort of favorite, you know. He is an amazing archer… in a world where even actual GODS are not able to stop some bad guys. But archery is still, like, pretty cool.
In the first two acts of The Avengers, he took a chestful of Loki’s staff magic and chauffeured him around. And it was a pretty unexpected plot twist unless you saw this Lego set first.
Jude Law is Yon-Rogg
Source: Funko
Funko Pop is here to ruin a party for everybody. AGAIN. It’s always exciting to think about the mysterious casting of some Hollywood star to an undefined role. And when Captain Marvel came around, the part of “mysterious supporting character” went to Jude Law.
There were a lot of speculations about who’s he gonna be and then Funko released promo photos of their Captain Marvel figures and there you go. Jude Law was Yon-Rogg. The mystery is over, we can go home now.
A Hulkless Hulkbuster
Source: Lego
At the end of Thor: Ragnarok Bruce Banner said that he might not be able to transform into the Hulk again and even though he instantly turned into Hulk right after saying that, was this going to be a long-term problem? Who knows?
Everybody would have to wait until Avengers: Infinity War to find that out if Lego hadn’t released promotional their adaptation of Infinity War’s climactic battle scene where Bruce is not a green giant at all.
Thor’s eye
Source: Lego
At one point of the movie Hela cuts out Thor’s eye. We all remember that scene, it was a bit scary but it showed Thor as a vulnerable character on his way to maturity. But later he took his old eye from a talking raccoon. And Lego decided to spoil it all with their figure where we see Thor with both eyes and we know that all those scenes just didn’t mean that much at all.
Goose Cat
Source: shopDisney
Captain Marvel movie featured an adorable little cat called Goose. Who, as it turned out later is actually a flerken. And it was a major turning point for every fan except those who like to spend their time in a toy aisle and saw the official Goose the Cat doll with a bunch of acid blue tentacles emerging from the mouth. A picture that will haunt a lot of unprepared kids.
