Attentive guys noticed that every TV show based on a comic book is crammed full of Easter eggs and hidden references.

The same thing happened with the new Netflix’s  Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and Riverdale that actually are full of references and easter eggs. Nexter.org has found some of them.

Ben Button

As Riverdale is in the middle of dealing with the mystery of the Gargoyle King, one of its victims showed up in Greendale. In episode seven of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Ben Button delivered a pizza to Ms. Wardwell.

Actually, Ben threw himself out a window during Riverdale‘s second episode so how he could die in both ?

Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who runs both shows, has already addressed Ben’s presence in Greendale in a new interview with Entertainment Tonight. “It suggests a very deep, deep mythology where time and space bends,” he shared. “It seemed like it was pretty final, but yet there he is in Greendale. But in Greendale, everyone pops up — the dead don’t stay dead long in Greendale.”

One of the first ones we see is Sabrina carrying an Archie-themed thermos while she’s talking to Harvey and Roz in episode 1, “October Country.”

Another Riverdale reference later pops up in episode 2, “The Dark Baptism,” when Sabrina enlists the Weird Sisters to take revenge on the Baxter High footballers tormenting Susie.

When the four witches roll up on the boys, one of them notices that the Weird Sisters don’t go to Baxter High, asking them if they go to Riverdale High. To this, Prudence replies, “You wouldn’t know it. It’s a special school,” referring to the Academy of Unseen Arts.

In episode 3, “The Trials of Sabrina Spellman,” during a scene at Baxter High you can very quickly see (at the 28:38 mark) a poster advertising an upcoming bowling tournament between the Greendale Ravens and Riverdale Bulldogs.

You probably didn’t notice but at the beginning of the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, almost every image you see is directly lifted from the horror-themed comic books that the show is based on, including the true face of Madam Satan and Aunt Hilda in the form of a spider.

Some of the most powerful images are taken from the covers of these comics, including that final shot of Sabrina against a blood red sky, which was first seen in issue #2 of the supernatural reboot.

One stands out as rather different from the rest though, serving as a throwback to Dan DeCarlo’s classic Sabrina from 1962’s Madhouse #22.
