The Amityville Horror

Did you know that the story behind the 2005 horror movie is a real one? A three-story house which was built in 1924 stays in the town of Amityville near New York till this day. In 1965, it was acquired by the DeFeo family. 7 years later, in November 1974, the neighbors called the police, stating that they heard shots coming this the house.

The guards then found 6 corpses and one survivor – the eldest of 5 children – Ronald DeFeo. The young man claimed that he killed his father, mother, sisters, and brothers at the behest of demonic voices. Psychiatric examination recognized him sane, and he was sentenced to 150 years in prison (2 life terms).

A year later, a young family of three have bought the mansion. They knew about the terrible story that happened in the house, but they were tempted by the low price. However, a happy life in this house did not happen. The house always smelled of rotting meat, voices and frightening noises were heard. There is a version that the hallucinations of the family were caused by constant anxiety.

The Exorcism of Anna Elisabeth Michel

When she was 17 years old, she was diagnosed with temporal lobe epilepsy. The treatment did not bring positive results, and soon she developed symptoms of a progressive mental illness – schizophrenia and dissociative personality disorder.

Annelize thought she was possessed by the devil. The voices were telling the girl that she was “damned” and “would rot in hell.” The efforts of psychiatrists were all in vain, and the Catholic family decided on an exorcism ceremony – “exorcism of the devil”.

In 1975, Michel stopped taking medications for epilepsy and schizophrenia, surrendering to the authority of a priest. For 10 months, he conducted 67 rites, 42 of which were captured on camera.

On July 1, 1976, Annelise died in her bed. Shortly before her death, she refused to eat and drink “for the sake of atonement.” The girl weighed about 30 kg and was wounded by constant self-torture and kneeling.

The Wyoming Incident

On November 22, 1987, in Wyoming at 23:15 local time, the broadcast of one of the popular TV channels was hacked. Instead of the Doctor Who episode, a six-minute appeared on the screen, consisting of disjointed frames. Human heads were rotating in different directions, alternating with the phrases: “You are sick,” “You can lose everything,” “Why do you hate?”, “We are standing outside the door,” “What is hiding in your imagination?”

After watching the , dozens of people went to the hospital, complaining about a headache, nausea, hallucinations, dizziness, severe unreasonable fear, feeling that someone was constantly standing behind his back.

The culprit was never found, but nightmares still haunt random viewers of the mysterious program.

Apartment for rent

18-year-old Carissa Glenn rented a new apartment in Cornwall. Eventually, nightmares began to torment her, and she always had a feeling that she was not alone in the room. And then the girl began to have dreams about a man who hanged himself in this apartment.

On March 16, 1995, Terry Cottle shot himself in the bathroom of his apartment. His last words to his wife were “help me, I’m dying”. Since he shot himself in the head and his body remained unharmed doctors decided to donate his organs. The widow has agreed.

Cottle’s 33-year-old heart was transplanted to 57-year-old Sonny Graham. When he has recovered, he wrote a letter to thank Cheryl. In 1996, they met and Graham felt an incredible sympathy for a widow. In 2001, the sweet couple began to live together, and in 2004 they got married. But in 2008, the poor heart stopped beating forever: Sonny, for some unknown reason, also shot himself.

Doris Beiter was not the most pleasant resident of Culver City (California). She constantly drunk and insulted her sons. And also, the woman was able to summon spirits. In the late 1970s, several researchers decided to personally verify the authenticity of its stories. It all ended with the young lady summoning a green silhouette of a man who scared everyone to death. And one of the men even lost his consciousness.

By the way, the horror movie “The Entity” (1981) was based on the Beiter’s stories.
