Unfortunately, flight delays or even cancels are not a rare thing and Nexter believes we all should be prepared for situations like this. Here are a few must-know issues to help you survive in an overcrowded airport if your flight was delayed or canceled.

What you’re entitled to

What you’re entitled to is really up to each individual airline. Usually, if the delay is less than 3 hours, you shouldn’t expect much benefits. Airlines aren’t legally required to provide you with anything, but still, you may get some vouchers or even a hotel room if the flight is delayed until the next morning.

Take into account, that in the EU, when your flight is delayed for a minimum of 3 hours, you’re entitled to compensation. This compensation also applies to airlines based out of the UK such as British Airways.

Try to get a lounge pass

If your flight is delayed because of the airline, you should ask for a lounge pass. Airline lounges will have hot , free drinks, comfortable seating, and free WiFi which is perfect while you wait out your delay. Your airline may be hesitant to give these passes, out so just ask nicely.

Grab something to eat

Well, let’s be honest, 30-minute delays can turn into one hour, so you need to grab something to eat even if you’re not hungry yet. Who knows how long the delay will be!
