How it can affect Instagram

The resignation of Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger can hurt Facebook significantly, taking into account that it recently appeared in the center of the scandal with the leakage of personal data of users.

Entrepreneurs founded Instagram in 2010, and in 2012 the popular service was bought for a billion dollars by Facebook. Analysts call Instagram one of the best purchases of Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook.

After the leaving of the founders, the future of the app is vague as it is still unclear who will lead the company, and whether the new executives will succeed in continuing the development of Instagram.

Founders Instagram did not name the reasons for the resignation, but it is not excluded that the reason for the leaving of entrepreneurs was tensions with Mark Zuckerberg himself.

North American media representative Dave Lee says that the popularity of Instagram has increased just at the moment of Facebook data breach scandal.

As a result, Facebook is trying to squeeze more and more revenue from its users, which runs counter to the original principles of Instagram.

4 crucial things from goodbye letter

  • Facebook limits their creativity: “We’re planning on taking some time off to explore our curiosity and creativity again,” reads the goodbye letter. The key word here is “again,” which suggest that they are currently not able to explore the creativity within Facebook rules and limits.
  • They leave to build something new, a potential enemy of Facebook: As a rule, people leave the business to spend more time with their family or establish a personal life, but this time Instagram founders emphasized the fact they are going to create something new: “Building new things requires that we step back, understand what inspires us and match that with what the world needs.”
  • It doesn’t mention Mark Zuckerberg: When you leave, you have to thank the founder of the company, in this case, a farewell to Mark Zuckerberg. However, both Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger didn’t care to even mention CEO of Facebook not by name, not by the status. It can mean only that there was the tension between Instagram CEO and Facebook founder.
  • They are leaving together: This is an unexpected decision, for sure. Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger didn’t plan that for a long time. It looks that they got sick of all Facebook new policy and thought it would be better to step aside.
