372 People Died And Around 6000 Injured In Iran-Iraq Border Earthquake


The 7.3 magnitude earthquake along the Iran-Iraq Border region killed 387 people in both countries on Sunday as local media reported.

Quake epicenter located in Sulaimaniyah province in Kurdistan region – 19 miles (31 kilometers) outside the eastern Iraqi city of Halabja.


According to the Iran’s state-run news agency, 372 people died and more than 6000 were injured.

In Iraq at least 15 are dead and nearly are 535 injured according to Iraq’s Interior Ministry.

The local emergency services wary that the number of victims may rise as they gained access to more remote mountainous areas.


Rescue workers continue to search for survivors among the rubble of damaged homes. Dozens of buildings and the only hospital in the town of 30,000 people was damaged due to the tremors.

Kurdish Health Minister Rekawt Hama Rasheed responded that the situation in the region is very critical.

Also, the temblor was felt in neighboring Turkey and Israel as well.
